Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship

Good sportsmanship is when everyone treats each other with respect and fairness (teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials). You always have to treat others, the way you want to be treated, with respect. :)

Always try to be a good sport by trying to:
  • Play fair
  • Be a team player
  • Stay positive
  • Keep trash talk to a minimum
  • Lose gracefully
  • Win with class
  • Respect the rulings of the officials.

Sportsmanship is so important there is a national sportsmanship day!!! :) The national sportsmanship day was March 1, 2011.  So HAPPY SPORTSMANSHIP DAY :D

Ken Griffey a 41 year old who played baseball for Mariners, Reds and WhiteSox said “I can’t play being mad. I go out there and have fun. It’s a game, and that’s how I am going to treat it." Which is very true. If you are loosing i am pretty sure being mad and being disrespectful is NOT going to help you win. So just relax and try your best :)

I found a touching story, it’s about Emily, a eight year old that burst in tears after her softball game ended. Emily was not crying because her team had lost, or because her opponents  offended her. Emily was crying because her father yelled at her when she missed a fly ball that could have saved the game.

Also the softball video of Central Washington and West Oregon was a very inspirational
This video was amazing. Sarah accomplished her goal, and its wonderful how Liz and Mallary from central Washington helped her complete the home run and not just that, but they helped her finish and complete her goal. Definitely it was a very inspirational story. I wish all teams were like them. Liz and Mallary did not mind loosing the game, as long as they helped Sarah.   Both Central Washington and West Oregon are great teams.

Huntington Park High School Reconstitution

In six weeks Huntington Park High School won't exist. Class of 2011 will be the last class to graduate from HPHS. I believe the reconstitution will affect many of the students and staff. The students from Huntington Park tried stopping this by walking-out on the day of the LAUSD meeting.  Students walked approximately 10-13 miles to downtown where the meeting was being held. I believe the walkout was really irresponsible of all the students. The students and staff should of reacted in a different way.  If they had decided to do a sit -in and the sit-in was planned they should have stuck to that. I don't have anything against the people that walked out but there was different ways to reacting to this situation that would of made us look better. By walking out, it made us look like rebellious irresponsible students. What was the point of 300 students walking-out if only 3 were allowed to go in the meeting, and those 3 students were only allowed to speak for three minutes. I like the fact that all the students are united, and we could have made a change but in a more peaceful, planed and smarter way.
